Bring to mind the full frustration of where you feel stuck in your life. Now call your attention to all of the areas in which you are thriving and enjoying abundance.
There are multiple dimensions to our lives and well-being.
I focus on eight dimensions of wellness in my work as a coach:
Spiritual connection
Relationships
Health
Work
Financial abundance
Environment
Play
Giving Back & a Sense of Purpose
I invite you to bring your attention to each of these aspects of your life. Where are you experiencing contentment or satisfaction?
We tend to gravitate as humans to what is going wrong and to the negative. Please take a moment to feel gratitude for all the elements in your life that you can be grateful for. Celebrate yourself for how things are clear for you and you show up well. Give yourself a pat on the back and a ‘Good for YOU’ for how you are doing well. A
Notice that I didn’t say that you are a huge, gigantic success. It is okay to celebrate simply doing well; I promise you, this is enough.
And you are enough. We don’t need to be going for 110% in all areas of our lives to live vibrant, rewarding, healthy, and joyful lives.
For best results, you can take pen to paper and write yourself a mini celebration letter about all of the ways you are doing well.
BECAUSE THE TRUTH IS THIS: WE TRANSFORM THE FASTEST FROM A PLACE OF FEELING GOOD, BETTER, FABULOUS
So please let that gratitude flow through your system, your appreciation for how well you are doing to wrap you in a warm hug and to celebrate you. You are awesome.
Did you do it? I’m serious. Please do this first step.
Okay, feeling good? Now call to mind the place where you feel stuck. In which of the eight aspects of your life is it located? Relationships? Work? Health? Feeling a sense of fulfilling purpose? Not enough play and joy?
Please take pen to paper and write out the following:
I feel stuck in this aspect of my life:
Next, brainstorm what it is you don’t want. Humans tend to spend more time focusing on what they DON’T want instead of on what they DO want. So go all in on the feelings of sticky, stuck, frustration, despair, anger, bitterness, or even rage. Go into the heavy emotions for a few moments. Let them have space to be. Allow them.
Now bring your attention to what you DO want. Write it down here:
What I want in this aspect of my life:
Let your imagination go full throttle and don’t hold back to what you consider to be reasonable, responsible, or possible for you. Allow yourself to dream.
As you write your dream story in this aspect of your life, more and more feel it being true for you, now.
Here and now, if it was true, how would you FEEL?
What would be true for you? How would you carry yourself, walk, interact with people, and live your life?
Imagine that a magician is showing up in 22 minutes and what you want to be true WILL BE TRUE in mere minutes this is your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual ramp-up time to prepare for it all to be yours.
Close your eyes and revel in it. Allow all the uplifting physical sensations, thoughts, emotions, and energy to fill you up to the brim.
The next step is to visualize this magician telling you a step to take to get to where you want to be. That’s it: one simple step that takes five minutes or less. Maybe it takes thirty seconds.
What is one step, super TINY, that you could start taking daily to begin he journey from being HERE to Being IN the aspect of your life being true?
Make IT TINY. Write it down here:
If the area of your life is your health and you want to go from weak and exhausted to vibrant, energized, and radiantly glowing, then a tiny step could be: eat one carrot each morning. That’s it.
Make it that tiny. Don’t fuss with the details of how such a TINY action can lead to where you want to be. Be here with the TINY action and after you eat your carrot, celebrate.
Do a happy dance, pump your fist in the air, do a shake or a shimmy, smile, pat yourself on the back, or any other way of celebrating yourself that feels good to you.
Whatever you do, do not skip the celebration step. Seriously, the celebration step is where 50% of the magic happens. Eat the carrot. Celebrate.
The next step is more challenging: patience and faith. Believe that your daily tiny action is going to grow in its own timing.
You will go from one carrot to eating veggies at every meal but do not take another step until it feels easy and natural. Wait until you feel the urge to challenge yourself a tiny bit more.
Maintain the expectation that what you want is yours. You are on the path, it is happening, everything is lining up, help is appearing, and you can keep going. You can keep going because you know what you want is yours. It’s on the way. Don’t doubt it is coming.
Have faith.
